Pulse hung on waiting to connect

Hi, pulse is hung on 'waiting to connect'. Sometimes it will quickly jump to 'connecting' just to immediately go back to waiting. This is my first time attempting to connect as I just downloaded the software yesterday. I'm not sure what to do outside of restarting the computer (which I've already done). Suggestions?

Do you see a different message when you login through the web?
Do you see any error messages?
Can you check with the admin to see if there are messages on why you are failing?

    I don't know how to log in via the web. No error messages and I haven't yet checked with admin, but i think that will have to be my next step.

    Thank you for confirming that you only use the client.
    The description you provided sounds like it could be something on the gateway preventing access; hopefully your admin can provide feedback on what may be happening
